Title- Videogames: A teacher of violence.

Research Question: Do video games really make children more violent.

What do you know: I know that many parents feel that videogames are making their kids violent and that many people are trying to restrict children from playing violent video games through video game ratings. Also, I know that Japan is a major manufacturer of violent videogames and they are much less violent then the U.S.

What don’t I know: I don’t really know how the ratings work and I don’t really know the studies done and if they have shown kids that play violent video games are more likely to be violent in the future.

What I know? yes that is true that many parents try to stop their children from playing certain games because they feel its too violent. Video games intended for boys are more violent than the ones intended for girls but it also depends on age range. I have both a brother and sister and all my brothers video games are based on shooting, fighting or killing an opponent in order to win the game. My sister games are more on barbie, shopping, dressing up but basically girl stuff. But like I said this is based on their ages.
What I don’t know? I’m not really into video games, so I’m not sure. But is a game violent depending on what type of game it is? Sport games are not violent, girl barbie games are not violent. Can the violence come from certain games and is this an issue because this are the popular most bought games? Are this the games played most by children and therefore parents see this more instead of the nonviolent game?Being so popular cause manufactures to sell and produce more?
(Hope I help at least a little)

I think this is really good topic to write about. I have read many articles that discuss this topic. I have read about kids who are violent and have acted upon that violence. I think you could have a lot of information to write about here…There is so much information that you can find anywhere. Do it!
