Video games have become a very popular form of entertainment especially for young kids and teenagers. People spend hundreds of dollars on video games, systems, and accessories each year. Not only do people spend a lot of money on video games, but they also spend an enormous amount of time on these games. So if people are spending so much money and time on video games, shouldn’t they be buying the best video games available?
Everyone has different tastes in video games. I personally prefer first person shooter video games. Games such as Halo 1-3, Golden Eye, and Call of Duty: Modern Warfare. Not only do I prefer these games, but also I feel these games are the best video games you can buy. Although I like all of those first person shooter games I mentioned, I believe the best video games are Halo 2-3.
Halo 2 and Halo 3 are by far the best first person shooter video games and might even be the best video games ever made. These games have great graphics, a good campaign mode, and most importantly the ability to play multi-player online. All of these characteristics are common of basically every first person shooter video game, so what makes Halo 2 and Halo 3 that much better then the rest?
The first thing is the ability to make choices in the multiplayer setting. The success of the Halo video games was all about the ability to let its gamers make choices. You could choose your character (Alien or Human), The colors of your character, the character’s symbol, the type of game you play (anything from a free-for-all to capture the flag), the map you play on, and the best choice of all: choosing the weapons that are on the map. These choices allow players to play the same game in many different ways, so the game never becomes dull. Another one of the great successes of the Halo video games was the multi-player.
With the ability to play online now video games are more fun then ever. No longer do you need to go over to a friends house to play video games, now you can play video games in the comfort of your own home with your best friends thanks to the online capability of games. The Halo games had a great online multiplayer and still allowed people to make the choices they made in multi-player offline. Also, in the Halos online you could use your headset and talk into it in order to talk to your teammates so you could strategize or (my personal favorite) you could talk into the headset while pushing a button and it enabled you to talk to everyone in the game and harass your enemies. Also, if your teammates were trying to kill you with friendly fire you had the option to boot a player so that they did not ruin your game. The Halos were known for their great online play, which made them one of the most successful first person shooter games of any system ever.
Video games are a very fun hobby, but you have to make sure you get a video game that you will be happy with for a long time since they are quite expensive ($60.00). In order to get the best video game (A first person shooter) make sure that it has the capability to play online, allows the gamer to make many choices, and see if other people have enjoyed the game.
Halo 2 and Halo 3 are among the best choices because they went above and beyond all other video games, which is exactly the reason they were so successful. They allowed the gamers to make choices and also gave them an easy online game play. Obviously, the Halo video games were by far the best first person shooter games ever made.
You need to tap into the gaming world; seriously, there are so many more games that blow halo out of the water. The only reason halo became “successful” is because it is a game that is only offered on Xbox; Microsoft came up with this unusual, but successful, marketing technique specifically to promote Xbox and the Halo series.
I do agree that Halo is a successful game but it’s not because of the game itself. Halo is a basic first person shooter; “These games have great graphics, a good campaign mode, and most importantly the ability to play multi-player online.” I should hope so. The graphics, campaign mode, and multi-player are all things that SHOULD be in a fps, so I agree with you on that. But every reason you gave for why it’s the best game ever is completely opinion based, you gave no specific reasons. What are the graphic’s specs? How many online players are there? How does Halo compare to other video games of the past? And how much money has Halo made Microsoft?
My favorite game of all time is in fact a fps and it blows Halo away. The name of the game is Counter-Strike.

This is by far the most real life first person shooter ever created. The graphics are continually updated once a month, so they are always the best you can get. The game itself is only offered for PC play, which is sad, but at the same time it’s a good thing because there isn’t a gaming system on the market that could handle all of the specs. This game is as real as it gets; each domain is based on a real life counter-strike scenario, the guns are replicas of real life ones, and the game itself is so precise that it actually matters where you shoot them. Getting shot in the hand might not do as much damage as getting shot in the foot or the left elbow or even the right shoulder. Headshots are instant death no matter what weapon you are using.

Now that I think about it, it seems like Halo was based on Counter-Strike. Every basic gameplay feature is the same; humans vs. aliens / Counter-Strike vs. Terrorists (see any similarities yet?) Well think about how each side has a set of designated weapons that the other side does not; each side has weapons they can start with but once an enemy is killed you can pick up his, a weapon from the other side. Counter-Strike has every option that Halo does and then some.
You should play it for a week and then try to tell me Halo is the greatest fps ever made. BOOM!! HEADSHOT!!!!
I used to enjoy all kinds of computer games and tried a lot of them. Of course due to my talent to get bored very quickly I never finished them. So, after a while instead of playing them I started to keep myself informed on news, latest games publishings and all the stuff related to games. Now I can find all the games news and reviews on PC District.com.
I will have to disagree with you on Halo being the best first person shooter game just on the simple fact that me personally I like realistic shooting games, don’t get me wrong Halo is a great game but it’s like so fake. As some of the other games you mentioned I’m more into Call of Duty Modern Warfare, Ghost Recon and Battle Field 2. Halo is based on Aliens and supernatural creatures with unrealistic weapons. I don’t know how but Halo is the number one selling first person shooting game since the reign of Halo 1 and it is sold for only one system (Xbox). I just like the simple old fashioned flesh on flesh war fighting not the extra high tech body armor that Halo uses and the Ultra Shield or the cloak to go invisible.
The reasons you gave to why you think Halo is the best game are basically the same as Call of Duty or any other first person shooting game the only difference that Halo has which I think people can careless about is the choosing of your character, the color of your character and the symbol. As long as you can choose the map the weapons and the game play it’s all good you really don’t need all those other features.
It’s true about the online gaming. That was the best thing they made able to play with people all across the globe. Show your talent to others. One of my friends is really really good in Halo and when he logs into play all I hear in the game lobby is heeyy Dr Fielder (that is his Gamer tag name) what up man ready to kick some butt. And many people ask him online if he’s going to go to any tournaments for Halo. It’s so cool how you get to interact and play with people all across the Nation especially if your good like my friend is and actually get to meet the people at these Halo tournaments. It is so much better how before you had to have people come over to play the game with you now you can just go online. It is better that way because if you wanted to play and 16 player system link with all your friends it would be a hassle because then you would have to bring four Xboxes and you might not have enough TVs in the house or enough room to fit everyone. So the online creation was definitely a big plus where everybody can just play within the comfort of their own homes.
But yea like I said and it’s just my opinion I don’t think Halo is the best first person shooting game. Yea I’ll play it but ill rather play a more realistic shooting game. The game I’m into right now is Call of Duty Modern Warfare.
